Do I Need A Real Estate Agent?

real-estate-agent1The technological advances man has made, coupled with the global reach of the internet has made it much easier to put your house on the market. There might be some feedback to your “House for Sale” ad, but the process of actually getting in touch with prospective buyers and setting an appointment to showcase your property may prove taxing and time-consuming. It’s not be quite as simple as placing an ad online and then doing a little bit of spring cleaning to get your house ready for viewing. There are much more details to pay attention to and these are details that a licensed real estate agent has been trained to have the eye for.

There are two kinds of real estate agents to choose from: a full service agent and a discount service agent. A full service agent takes care of everything from preparing your home for viewing, conducting the open house, using the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), professional photographs to be taken of your home and also an attractive and decent “For Sale” sign on your yard. A discount service agent will provide less than those of the previous agent (check with the real estate agency to find out the exact provisions of the discount service agent).

There are many benefits to hiring a professional real estate agent.

  • A licensed real estate agent will have had the education and experience to understand the market well. A good realtor will have a proper understanding as well of the paperwork and procedures involved in selling a house and should be able to help make it easier for you.

  • It takes a massive amount of time to schedule and manage viewing tours of your house. You can save time and energy and use it for your other important tasks by hiring a realtor to do this for you.

  • An experienced real estate agent will have had the training and the acumen to discern those who are actual buyers from those who are merely looking around. Your agent can also negotiate a better price for you.

  • A realtor has the network and contacts that you will need to get more potential buyers for your house. Most buyers will also offer a lower price to sellers who don’t hire a real estate agent.

While it will cost you a significant amount to hire a real estate agent, the benefits you get from it are worth it because not only will it relieve you of the stressful legwork required in selling a house, but you can also get a better price for it than you would if you had a go of it yourself.
