vacuum_cleaner_1Using a vacuum cleaner or any appliance properly will keep you from accidents or injury. Having the proper knowledge about your appliance will also help maintain your appliance in proper condition. Here are some tips that will guide you in proper handling of your vacuum cleaner.

1. Do not leave the vacuum cleaner plugged when not in use. Keeping it unplugged from the outlet will help prevent accidents.

2. Vacuum cleaners are not intended for outdoors or on wet surfaces so it is important not to use them on these areas to reduce the risk of electric shock. It is also important to unplug the appliance before connecting or disconnecting the vacuum hose.

3. Vacuum cleaners are very delicate especially once dropped or damaged or dropped into water. Be careful not to drop or damage it. If this happens, do not use it at all or have it checked with a technician before using.

4. Keep cords from getting damaged. Do not pull or carry the vacuum cleaner by cord nor use it as a handle. To unplug properly, do not pull cord. Instead, grasp the plug, not the cord. Keep cord away from sharp edges or corners.

5. Keep airflow openings from clogging. Airflow openings should be free of dust, lint, hair or anything that may reduce airflow. Avoid putting objects into airflow openings. Remember to keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.

6. Keep away from children. Vacuum cleaners are not intended for use by children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they are supervised or have been instructed concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Storing them properly in a safe place when not in use is the ideal thing to do.

7. Do not pick up toxic, flammable or combustible materials or use in the presence of explosive liquids or vapour.

8. Do not use in an enclosed space where explosion could easily arise. Keep away from other explosive vapors like gas, paint thinners, etc.

9. Do not pick up hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails, screws, coins, etc.

10. Lastly, store vacuum cleaner in a cool, dry area.
